Molds to make Miniature Cupcakes

Just for those of you who have been writing to me and asking.... yes, you can now buy molds at the Hummingbird Miniatures online shop here, and use the mold to make your own dollhouse miniature cupcakes, in one inch scale. (12 times smaller than real life).

These molds are created from a hand-sculpted cupcake base, so they allow miniature crafters to make their own teeny tiny cupcakes based on a delicate and handmade design.

And if you want to make your own miniature cupcakes and get all the tips and tricks, then buy the PDF tutorial at the same online shop here.

Make it Teeny!

Some dream of making it big - I always dreamt of making it tiny. Real tiny. In case you didn't already know, I'm a miniaturist amongst other things and I've been making realistic miniatures in 'one inch scale' (that means 12 times smaller than real life) for years now. Some miniatures for collectors and others as entire miniature model sets for film, TV and music videos.

Well, stay tuned as in 2012 I'll be uploading many miniature tutorials so you can have a go yourself. Click over to my YouTube Channel for tutorials (and don't forget to subscribe). Until then you might want to see some of the fun snaps of my miniature workshop and miniatures in-the-making over at my two mini blogs. Here's a few examples below.

Click over to Pixie Dust Miniatures for a glimpse at magical fairytale miniatures or hop on over to Hummingbird Miniatures to see realistic miniature food... all in the making!

East of the Border...!

If you haven't yet found this shop it's because she's totally new to Etsy, but watch out because this is not one to miss. Marya harks from Russia, and has lived in the States 10 years. Her original handmade jewelry is exquisite, sometimes whimsical, delicate and very pretty. When I first saw her rose quartz bracelets I immediately thought of Queen Titania from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. I am lucky enough to own an East of the Border original bracelet and love wearing it to glam up simple jeans or in the evening where it is so eye catching under candlelight.

You've got to take a look - especially right now whilst her prices are so low!

Take a look at her online shop and happy shopping. :)

Here's a few examples of her work... she's got so much more jewelry to list soon though...

Handmade Easter Egg Decorations!

Hope you caught my last post about handmade Easter decorations (if not it's here)!

Well in that spirit I decided to make some for myself, but these were needed for my scale miniature Easter display, so I made them in 1:12 (one inch) scale.

Take a look! :)

Easter Egg Decor and More...

Easter is still weeks away, but it is approaching and whether you've got children or not you're probably thinking of doing something to celebrate it and that something may involve cupcakes with candy Easter eggs on top and chocolate bunnies. Well to add to that I've got some inspiring ideas to get you thinking about...

It was the Victorians who first started decorating their homes with eggs at easter time (they were real eggs which were blown and the hollow shells were dyed with natural food dyes such as onion skins, and either strung on ribbons or given to the children). Later on chocolate Easter eggs became popular but only for the rich.

How things have changed... today you can pop to M&S (the best English supermarket) or Michael's (brilliant American craft store) and buy pretty Easter egg decorations for about £5 ($8)!
Or, how about Williams Sonoma's felt Easter egg decorations (below) which are a tad pricier at $12?!

But this is a craft blog, so I just have to share Molly's (of The Purl Bee) fantastic handmade egg decorations. Click on the image below and it will take you straight to her site with instructions on how to make these for yourself.

Or if you want handmade Easter decorations but don't have the time to make them yourself then check out KimArt's online Etsy store. She ships pretty hand-painted wooden eggs from the US. Click on the photo of her eggs below to get to her shop!

And one last cute idea for today... I found these adorable little bunny candles as a slightly more original cupcake topper than the usual candy eggs. Aren't they sweet?! Made by Wrapables and ship from the US.
